The data set of Lithuanian wetlands and peatlands was created in 2018 in the framework of the project “Reduction of CO2 emissions by restoring drained and degrading peatlands in the plains of Northern Europe”. The data set was created by the Natural Heritage Fund under an agreement with the Lithuanian Fund for Nature. To create the set, use the most detailed 2017-2018. spatial data on Lithuanian wetlands and peatlands and their condition. For the purposes of this assessment, peatlands are considered to be land areas with a peat layer thickness of at least 0.5 m, while wetlands are considered to be only non-drained peatlands. The collection includes wetlands and peatlands, data on the type of peat layer, peat quarries and mining areas, ditch and drainage peatlands and their condition, forested areas and other land uses, protected areas in wetlands and peatlands and natural habitats of European importance. The sources used to compile the data set are specified in the data set specification, which can be found here: https://www.geoportal.lt/download/Specifikacijos/Lietuvos_pelkiu_ir_durpynu_DB_atnaujinimas_2017-2018_GPF.pdf
