Balances of mineral resources are calculated in thous. cub. meters by type of stock and quantity of approved stock. Resource types: rock salt, anhydrite, dolomite, peat, freshwater limestone, gypsum, glauconitic sandstone, limestone, chalk, quartz monomineral sand, low-grade peat, clay, gaize, sapropel, sand, gravel, sand and gravel.

The following exogenous geological processes and phenomena are widespread in the territory of Lithuania: sea abrasion and reshaping of lakes and water reservoirs, erosion of rivers and ditches, planar erosion; suffusion; karst, swamping; landslides; relief reshaping, etc. Endogenous processes – earthquakes and current tectonic movements - are also recorded in Lithuania. The emergence and development of these processes affect the ecogeological conditions of the territories, endanger the stability of the territories and the structures in them, human economic activity and safety.

The catalogue of geological survey reports consists of the results (reports) of geological mapping, in-depth surveys, seismological monitoring, ecogeological surveys, hydrogeological surveys, underground hydrosphere monitoring and other geological surveys. Geological surveys include drilling of wells, geophysical or engineering geological (geotechnical) surveys, rock, water and other samples that reveal factual data on subsoil layers and their properties, extent of surface pollution, groundwater quality and soil suitability (e.g. , for foundations of multi - purpose buildings).

Permits are issued to natural and legal persons or groups of such persons operating under joint activity agreements. According to the Underground Law of the Republic of Lithuania, only resources that have been explored in detail and approved in accordance with the procedure established by the Lithuanian Geological Survey may be used. The data consists of the name of the subsoil stock or part thereof, the name of the wellfield and the code in the Subsoil Register; information on approved minerals (other than hydrocarbons), groundwater resources and subsoil cavities.

Permits shall be issued to natural and legal persons or a group of such persons specifying the types of research to be carried out. Authorization may be granted for one or more types of research. Permits are issued for direct and remote (except hydrocarbon) geological exploration of the underground depths, which are divided into the following types according to the object, research methods and purpose of the underground exploration: mining and exploration (of which: hydrocarbons; ores); groundwater exploration and exploration of all types (including thermal energy of the subsoil); search and exploration of subsoil cavities; subsoil mapping (geological; hydrogeological; geochemical; aerophotogeological; ecogeological; engineering geological; mineral resources; geophysical); engineering geological (geotechnical) research; ecogeological research; geophysical survey; other uses.

Potential sources of pollution are: industrial, energy, transport and service facilities; pollutant storage and recovery facilities; livestock facilities; accidental spills of pollutants. Pollution of soil, soil and groundwater from such sources could pose a risk to the natural environment and people , thouth the preliminary assessment of a risk is given to each of registered potential source of pollution.

Groundwater level is measured daily in 74 wells with electronic sensors, 20 wells are equipped with telemetric level data transmission systems. Groundwater levels in a given area depend on meteorological and geological conditions. Shallow (up to 5 m) groundwater accumulating in clayey sediments, the level of which rises and falls by several meters during the year, is most likely to react to changes in meteorological conditions. In deeper water, the change in level is only a few centimeters.

Groundwater levels are measured daily in boreholes with electronic sensors. Cclimate change impact on groundwater level regime and groundwater resources could be addressed by analyzing continuous and long-term groundwater level measurements data in generalised format. Therefore, the calculated average monthly groundwater levels data are presented.

Subsoil resources are those parts of natural resources which include elements of the structure and composition of the subsoil, such as solids, liquids, gases or energy fields, which can be used by man and whose quantity or quality changes as a result. The main types of subsoil resources: hydrocarbons, metal ores, non-metallic minerals, valuable minerals, geothermal, subsoil cavities, geological storage of carbon dioxide.
